A Legacy of Compassion – Mother Teresa
Mother Teresa, born Anjezë Gonxhe Bojaxhiu on August 26, 1910, was a Catholic nun and missionary. She was born in Skopje, now the capital of North Macedonia. After 18 years in Skopje, she moved to Ireland and later to India, where she served the poor for most of her life.
In 1950, she founded the Missionaries of Charity, a religious congregation with over 4,500 nuns operating in 133 countries by 2012. They run soup kitchens, orphanages, schools, and clinics. Members vow chastity, poverty, obedience, and a fourth vow—to serve the “poorest of the poor.”
She received many honors, including the 1962 Ramon Magsaysay Peace Prize and the 1979 Nobel Peace Prize.

Detailed Itinerary for trip Mother Teresa
Day 1 – Arrival in Skopje
Arrival at Skopje International Airport. Transfer to a central hotel in the city.
Enjoy a guided walking tour of both the Old and New parts of Skopje. Walk across the iconic Stone Bridge.
Visit Kale Fortress, Mustafa Pasha Mosque, Daut Pasha Hamam, and St. Demetrius Church.
Stop at the Mother Teresa Memorial House, built where she was baptized.
Visit the original location of her family home.
Dinner at a traditional Macedonian restaurant.
Overnight in Skopje.
Day 2 – Millennium Cross & Matka Canyon
After breakfast, begin your tour to Millennium Cross, one of the largest crosses in the world.
Visit St. Panteleimon Monastery from the 12th century.
Continue to Matka Canyon, just 20 km from Skopje.
Stop at the 14th-century Monastery of the Holy Mother of God.
Enjoy a nature walk where 20% of plants are endemic to the area.
Take a boat ride to one of Europe’s deepest underwater caves.

Day 3 – Kosovo Day Trip: Pristina & Vitina
After breakfast, travel to Kosovo. Visit Vitina, home of the Church of the Black Madonna.
It’s believed this is where Mother Teresa received her divine calling.
Tour Pristina, Europe’s youngest capital.
Visit the Cathedral of Saint Mother Teresa, Mother Teresa Boulevard, and Ibrahim Rugova Square.
Explore the Sultan Mehmet Mosque and Ethnological Museum.
Lunch in Pristina, return to Skopje for overnight stay.
Day 4 – Mavrovo National Park & Saint Jovan Bigorski Monastery
Visit the scenic Mavrovo National Park and Mavrovo Lake.
Tour the Saint Jovan Bigorski Monastery, housing relics of saints including John the Baptist and St. Nicholas.
Explore the peaceful village of Jance.
Lunch at a restaurant in the monastery complex.
Overnight at the monastery hotel.
Day 5 – Ohrid: UNESCO Heritage City
Drive to Ohrid, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Wander through the Old Town, known for its white houses, wooden shutters, and stone streets.
Visit the Cathedral of Saint Sofia and the Church of St. John at Kaneo, perched above the lake.
Lunch at a traditional lakeside restaurant.
Overnight in Ohrid.
Day 6 – St. Naum Monastery
Tour to St. Naum Monastery, situated on a cliff above Lake Ohrid.
Enjoy gardens full of peacocks and clear spring waters.

Day 7 – Return to Skopje
After breakfast, return to Skopje International Airport for your departure.
